Larisa Sims, AICP

Mrs. Larisa Sims is the Assistant City Manager in the City of Newport, Kentucky, a hub for economic development in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region. Previously she spent eight years as the Assistant City Manager for Development in the City of Covington, where she led the economic and community development team.
Mrs. Sims has 20 years of planning, development and management experience at the local and regional government level. Mrs. Sims received a post graduate degree from the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, a Master’s Degree in Community Planning at the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor’s at Western Kentucky University. She has an Economic Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners since 2002.
Over the years, Mrs. Sims has been active in several professional organizations including Leadership Northern Kentucky, the Northern Kentucky City and County Management Association, the Kentucky League of Cities, the Kentucky Chapter of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planner’s National Planning Accreditation Board Mrs. Sims lives with her husband and two children in Campbell County, Kentucky. She spends her free time marathon training, volunteering with the PTO, playing basketball with her boys, and enjoying the outdoors.
