Member Spotlight Questions
1. What do you hope to get out of your CREW membership and/or who do you hope to network with?
My hope as member of CREW is to grow professional and social relationships with like minded women who are driven not only by success but by supporting the growth of others, professionally and personally. When I was new in the industry and many years following, I had successful women around me that played a part in my professional growth but it always came at a cost. I want to be the person who waters the seeds of other women by supporting them in any way possible.
2. What or Who is your ideal client/customer?
My ideal client is engaging and forward thinking. These types of clients think outside of the box and are open to strategic discussions to explore new and innovative solutions. Our world is rapidly changing causing the need for clients to adapt.
3. What is your favorite aspect about your job? Sometimes I still stop and think, how did I get so lucky to be here?
I am a part of an organization with vast resources, unmatched expertise and most importantly provides colleagues with unconditional support. Most companies will say they are like family or one big team but that’s not always the case. Aon walks the walk in every way, whether it be client focused or as an employee. My absolute favorite part of my job is delivering what clients are promised, not having to attempt to back into the solution just to sell a product. I enjoy investing time learning about and listening to clients. Our North American CEO Jennifer Bell is a NKY native whose worked her way up with Aon starting at the local level. Jennifer is responsible for overseeing billions of dollars for North America, yet is willing assist colleagues by ensuring we have all the tools needed for success and even attending client meetings.
5. What does your company contribute to the commercial real estate industry?
At Aon we are Risk Advisors, Consultants and Partners to our clients. We thrive to provide the highest level of service to protect both their business exposures and investors with traditional and innovative coverage placements.
6. What advice do you have to someone new to the industry?
Surround yourself with people who are driven, smarter than you and exudes positive energy. We spend more time at work than we do our families, its important to enjoy who you spend time with and be passionate about what you do. Most importantly build solid network relationships and never stop learning, professionally or for leisure. What’s the old saying? - If you are the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.
7. What keeps you busy outside of work?
My husband and I have three daughters ages 13,18 and 24. Sports and school activities are always on our calendars but we love spending time outdoors hiking with our dog Murphy. I also serve on the Talbert House Development Committee as well as the Co-Chair for Make Camp Possible which supports Talbert House’s Camp Possible, a therapeutic based summer program for children who struggle with behavioral health issues.
